Dear IMBA-SORBA Members and Supporters,
Our friends at Mountain Goat Adventures raised over $15,000 for SORBA Woodstock in 2012 to fund trail building and maintenance at Blankets Creek Trail System and Taylor Randhal Memorial Trails at Rope Mill Park. With six additional miles of trail planned for Rope Mill Park, Mountain Goat Adventures and SORBA Woodstock hope to surpass our 2012 fundraising in the upcoming year, and can use your support now more than ever!
Registration is open for the both the Blankets Creek Dirty Duathlon, on Saturday, April 20, and the Blankets Creek Cross Country MTB Race on Saturday, May 11.
The duathlon course features five miles of trail running, and eleven miles of mountain biking, in a run then bike format. You can compete solo or on a two-person team. The Blankets Creek Dirty Duathlon is friendly to expert racers and beginners alike, with loads of great swag and lots of encouragement from our outstanding SORBA Woodstock volunteers. Your entry includes a great t-shirt that you'll actually want to wear off the bike, a commemorative event pint glass, as well as a swag bag stocked with goodies from Free-Flite Bicycles, Tecnu, Hammer Nutrition, GoSoap, Emergen-C and others! Prizes will be awarded three-deep in all categories, and we'll be raffling off some great sponsor goodies!
The Blankets Creek Cross Country MTB race will feature first timer, beginner, sport, and expert categories. The beginner course will be 9 miles, consisting of most of VMT, all of Dwelling, and half of South Loop. The Sport course will be 18 miles, consisting of two laps of the beginner course. The Expert course will be 22 miles and consist of most of VMT, all of Dwelling and all of South Loop. In keeping with tradition, the top Pro/Expert men and women will receive cash prizes, and sponsor prizes will be awarded a minimum of three deep. Event registration also includes a sweet technical tee and no special racing license is required to participate.
Please come participate as a way to show your support for mountain biking trails and our sponsors. Your participation allows Mountain Goat Adventures to improve their events from year to year and to attract new event sponsors. These sponsors generously donate money to fund trail building, and they donate products so that our participants can walk home with an armload of goodies.
You can register and find race details online at www.mountaingoatadventures.com or at Free-Flite Bicycles (Canton Rd - Marietta location). Those registering in-store at Free-Flite’ Bicycles will receive an extra raffle ticket and their choice of one bonus swag item - choose from Swiftwick socks, Headsweats hat or visor, logo T-shirts, and more!
Thanks, and we hope to see you there!
