The following post is a message to our Chapter Presidents from Tom Sauret, regarding insurance for SORBA chapters.
You will be receiving an email from IMBA's Boulder Office today or tomorrow outlying the recent developments in the search for affordable insurance. The developments are not good. The IMBA BOD decided last weekend not to renew the national liability program. IMBA's reasons will be outlined in the communication that I expect you will receive shortly.
Our current policy expires on March 1st. and it could very well be that IMBA and all of its clubs and chapters will be without insurance at this time.
I am working with the Boulder Office, the other Regional Directors and our SORBA Executive Board to take steps to make sure we have a plan in place. I have already spoken to one insurance underwriter about coverage for our 37 chapters and will continue to work steadily until we resolve the problem.
Executive Board and Mike VanAbel will discuss this issue on a call tomorrow and SORBA will keep you informed as we sort this out.
I will have a much better idea early next week on what steps we will take in order to secure insurance. I thought it important that I let you know so that you were prepared for this news when it arrives.
Thank you for your patience in this serious matter.
