Clutzy Phase

That's what we're here for.

Clutzy Phase

Postby tenbsmith » Mon Sep 30, 2013 9:28 am

I had to take few weeks off in August, my first couple of rides back were aerobically difficult but my handling skills were good. Recently, I've started getting clutzy, with a bunch of unplanned dismounts. A couple of these are due moving from an XL to an L frame, but I can't explain the rest...

Try a beer before you ride. :)

I race motorcycle on road courses, a couple of years ago I had a bad low side that slammed my helmet into the track . Gave me a mild cuncushin for about 2 month after that I had no balance on my bike. I wreck more in those two month than I did from when I started riding mountain bikes, hell that's been 20 years.

Yeah, there's a tight, twisty, choppy section that i was cleaning when I first started back and now is giving me trouble. Some of it has to do with committing, not hesitate as clem suggests. Shorter frame got me twice with semi-controlled over-the-bar stuff. Maybe this weekend...

Riding faster seems to have worked. 0 clumsy dismounts this week, 0 scratches and 0 yellow jacket stings--that sting from last week is still itchy. Only down side is riding faster made me more tired.

i seem to have caught the clutzy bug as well in cross races. two weekends in a row on courses that should suit me well and i've ended up on the ground multiple times, including my first "joey" maneuver over the barriers in 10+ years of cross racing.

i think im just going to start drinking more beer...
