Reminder for Chasing The CURE STXC this Saturday!!!

Postby mrphein » Mon Mar 01, 2010 12:21 am

Hi everyone.

This is our last reminder about our charity event to raise funds for CURE (curechildhoodcancer.org) this Saturday, March 6th in Flat Rock Park.

We came up with this idea after asking Noah's doctor what we could do to help other families that are going through the difficult journey of childhood cancer and she recommended that we support CURE. Since mountain bike racing is what Noah and I enjoyed doing prior to his Leukemia diagnosis we decided to do a bike race. Your donations or entry fee will go towards funding research for childhood cancers and programs that support families with children currently fighting cancer.

Our event is a short track mountain bike race that will take place on a 3/4 mile loop of the famous Flat Rock Park trail in Columbus, GA. We will have race categories for kids and adults of all ages and skill levels. After the kid’s race they can play in the bounce houses that our friends at funzonepartyrentals.com have donated or cheer on the adult racers as they go around the loop. Safe Kids of Columbus will be at our event for helmet safety tips and will have a few helmets to give to those children without a helmet.

-Parents that register their kid(s) for the kid’s race or anyone that donates $5 or more will be entered in a drawing for a child's bike and other prizes.
-Teens and adults that register for the race or anyone that donates $10 or more will be entered in a drawing for a Cannondale F8 mountain bike donated by The Bike Shop of Columbus and other prizes.
-FREE event shirt to the first 75 registered racers.
-Goody/Schwag bag for each child and adult racer will supplies last.

We have great prizes from Kenda tires, Oury Grips, Road ID, Twin Six cycling apparel, The Bike Shop of Columbus, mountain bike DVD's, women’s bike jewelry, and a bunch of other cool cycling stuff.

We are suppose to have great weather on Saturday so I hope you can come out and support us. Our website has more event details so please check it out at....www.chasingthecure.webs.com.

Thanks,
Paul Hein, dad of a child with A.L.L.

Hi. I just wanted to let you know that we finally got the pictures loaded from the Chasing The CURE event. They can be seen at: http://www.bluemelon.com/pnt0493/chasingthecure.

We almost raised $3000.00 and I sure would like to meet or exceed that number so if you were unable to make it to the event but want to make a donation to CURE please click on this link: http://chasingthecure.webs.com/donations.htm

We were considering doing the event again next year but would like to hear what you thought about this year’s event. What did you like, what did you not like, what would you like to see next year, where could we improve? Just send your comments to chasingthecure@hotmail..com.

Thanks to all of our volunteers, family, friends, sponsors and donors for their support.

If you are interested in more mountain bike racing in our area and the southeast you can visit www.sadlebred.com or www.goneriding.com.
