GEORGIA HUNTING and it's impact on cycling

I was on line buying my big game license for deer hunting and noticed that the WMAs are going to start charging a fee to non hunter users of their property including cyclists.

As a note some deer hunters also ride mtb. I was at Urawhee in NC last week and saw a deer hunter pushing his bike out of the woods with a doe strapped on the rack.

thinking about riding in dawson forest this weekend. is there only the wma pass that you need or something else?

Georgia Outdoor Recreational Pass (GORP) info can be found on DNR's Site.

But until the next round of budget cuts, a GORP is all you need.

If I am reading the website correctly, you do not need a GORP pass to ride Dawson Forest. The bike trails are in the City of Atlanta Tract of Dawson Forest WMA which is south of Hwy 53 http://www.georgiawildlife.com/sites/default/files/uploads/wildlife/maps/wma/locator/DawsonForestLocationMap.pdf. The WMA website indicates you only need a GORP pass north of Hwy 53 for Dawson Forest http://www.georgiawildlife.com/GORP/Properties. Not sure if other trails exist in the other three tracts. I am only aware of the ones at Dawson Forest Rd.
