Treadmill Park, Austell, Ga

I read some info. that there was trail over here in South Cobb. I drove over tonight for some recon.. Went down Austell-Power Springs Road; absolutely no sign of trail. I did see a gravel parking lot near some power lines across from Garret Middle school, but didn't appear to be a trail. From the gps it says 5000 Austell-Powder springs road. I even drove back on Bloomfield avenue; not really any sign of a trailhead. I asked one of the locals if they had any info. on a bike trail in the area and they looked at me like I was crazy. Any info. would be appreciated; it sounds like there is at least 1.75 miles of trail there.

Here is a link of the trail:

Also if you need an address try:

Mathis Dr. SW
Austell, GA

Should be at the end of Clark St SW. I've never been there but just thought I would provide you with a little info.

Thanks, I'll go back over there and see if I see any resemblance of a trailhead; it's only about 7 miles from the house. I drove by Clark street; it seemed like the area was fenced in but I'll check it out again. Like I was saying before; none of the locals are tuned into any type of trails over there and won't really offer much help. It seems there are around 100 acres of woods over there; it's a shame there's not more interest in building a full-scale trail. Given the depressed state of Austell it doesn't surprise me a whole lot.

Create interest yourself?? Thats how mountain bike trails begin.

You were at the right place. When you pull into the gravel parking lot, the trail head is in the far left hand corner. I believe signage in the works, but for now, that's where it's at.

There was a work day there about 3 weeks ago so the finished portion of the trail should be in decent shape.

Get active in the Paulding Chapter. As you mentioned there's a lot of acreage sitting there at that spot just waiting to have trails blazed through it, but as is usually the case there's always a need for warm bodies willing to help get it started.

Resurrecting this rather than starting a new thread. I had read about this set of trails on BoneShakerBicycles.com (LBS) a few months ago but it said still in the planning stages. Today I found out that it actually contains a short trail but the trail status on Paulding SORBA's site says closed since 11/11/12. Does anyone know why it's closed and if there are plans to re-open? It's close by to me (I could ride there, do a couple loops, then ride home). Thanks for any first-hand info!

There were a few storms that came through a while back blowing down some trees, lots of leaves were covering the trails making it hard to navigate and I saw a hunter stand out there. With all this I contacted Paulding to ask if hunting was permitted and if a work party was going to be put together. The response was regarding hunting is they shouldn't be out there but since there is so little traffic from riders, they can get away with it. Regarding a work party, it is difficult to get folks together to aid with those trails. Right now no one has currently adopted it to help with maintenance. Go check out the trails and see how they are. It is a fun loop with serious potential! Just have to get a work party going to clean it up and get some more riders on the trails. When DST hits there might be more active planning to head back out there… but that is not official.

My sons and have been riding and cleaning this trail up for the past couple of months. Havent been back out since the bad weather, but went there with a chainsaw a couple of months ago and cleared some downed trees that were crossing the route. The trail would be awesome if more people would ride it or help in the maintence process. Let me know if anyone wants to get together to do some work on the trail, it will really be a great place to ride, I already have a blast riding it now!

I'd certainly be willing to join a work party or two out there to get the trails opened back up.
