24 hours of Georgia

Postby Scott Pavao » Mon Jun 18, 2012 7:55 am

Anyone know the scoop on why Chainbuster.com had to change the venue from Conyers to Heritage Park?

It's a shame, I know the 24 hour scene did not start there but it sort of did for us in the south east. Conyers, because of the Olympics, the movie Solo24, the terrain, the few promoters who have put on 24 hour events there over the last 10 or 12 years is somewhat of a magical venue. I did my first 24 hour team event there probably 10 years ago now. An experience I will never forget. Also raced the very first Chainbuster edition of The 24 hours of Georgia last year solo and ss it was as tough as it could be but extremely rewarding to complete.

I've raced at Heritage Park, it will be interesting to see if the guys at Chainbuster can duplicate the atmosphere that comes with a race at Conyers.

You must've missed these threads:

My guess is that rather than wait and see what condition the trails will be in, they went ahead and made the decision to go move now so there's no last minute scramble. I agree with you, though, that it's disappointing to not have a 24h race at Conyers - my first was also there.

That said, I didn't see on their site where they changed the venue? Do you have a link to it?

They posted it on their Facebook page Saturday.

"ATTENTION ALL RACERS! .Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have moved the 24 Hours of Georgia race to Heritage Park ,Watkinsville GA. It will be on the same date .The Novice category will now be changed to 12 hours vs. less mileage. All details will be posted up on the website asap. We look forward to seeing all of you there!"

Riders and Racers have a BIG PART of an atmosphereof an endurance race.

Plan to be there and bring as many other racers to make an adventure!

The Athens group & Heritage will have a challenging race loop, great time of year for an event, and 24hrs is an adventure in itself!

Bring the party!

Heritage Park is a great place for 24 hour racing. Southern Lights 24-7 was an awesome race back in the day - my first solo 24! Should be a fun time!
