It was a picture-perfect day, the kind you want to write home, post on Facebook, Tweet, and blog about. The sky was a cloudless, brilliant, baby blue that made you sit up, take notice, remembering just why you enjoy mountain biking so much, rivaled only by the yellows, reds, and oranges of autumn’s leaves that surrounded you. The temperatures were as delightful as the visual display, not too hot, not too cold, and the humidity just right.

SORBA Fall Board Meeting on November 19

SORBA’s fall Board meeting is November 19th, starting at 8 a.m. We’ll finish our business by 3:30 p.m,. and go for a ride, weather permitting. We’ll be meeting at the Elachee Nature Science Center, down the road from Chicopee Woods Mountain Bike Trails. Directions to Elachee

Love Your Trail at Tsali Work Party Weekend

Come on out the weekend of October 15th, and show Tsali some love. IMBA-SORBA and the Nantahalla Area SORBA chapter are hosting a mega trail work party weekend at the famed Tsali trails.  Over the past year the U.S Forest Service, Nantahalla Area SORBA, and IMBA-SORBA have partnered to improve this IMBA Epic Ride location.  Some great work has been done, but we need a large group of volunteers to help one of our newest chapters in the area.

Party at Bull and Jake Mountains!

When we work together, we can accomplish so much. IMBA-SORBA and the Chattahoochee Trail Horse Association hosted a work pary at the Bull and Jake Mountain Trail System on Saturday, Aug 6th. This workday marks a long tradition of volunteer maintenance at Jake and Bull Mountains between SORBA and CTHA, as the two groups have worked together on this trail system for several years. Many of our SORBA chapters got behind this effort, with members from Gainesville, Athens, Woodstock, NW GA, UC3, Upstate SC, Ellijay, RAMBO, OMBA, and Atlanta attending the event.

Middle Tennessee Mountain Bike Patrol Praised

The Middle Tennessee Mountain Bike Patrollers are out training and patrolling on a regular basis, always ready to assist those in need on the trail. The patrollers are low-key about their efforts, but they deserve much praise for their selfless devotion. It’s good to receive an email, such as the following, sent in by A.J.

Georgia Awards Recreational Trails Program Grants

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recently awarded $2.1 million in Recreational Trails Program grants to 25 government agencies. The grants will assist with the construction and maintenance of trails and trailheads throughout the state. Four of the grants were awarded to projects for off-road cycling.
