Register for Races at Blankets Creek Woodstock, GA

Dear IMBA-SORBA Members and Supporters,

Our friends at Mountain Goat Adventures raised over $15,000 for SORBA Woodstock in 2012 to fund trail building and maintenance at Blankets Creek Trail System and Taylor Randhal Memorial Trails at Rope Mill Park. With six additional miles of trail planned for Rope Mill Park, Mountain Goat Adventures and SORBA Woodstock hope to surpass our 2012 fundraising in the upcoming year, and can use your support now more than ever!

Vote for Coldwater Mountain!!!

Coldwater Mountain is in the running for a $30,000 grant in the Bell Built Trail Grant Sweepstakes. Bell Helmets is awarding a total of $100,000 in Trail Building Grants. Our very own Coldwater Mountain is one of four finalists nationwide in the Flow Trail category.  If Coldwater wins, approximately $30,000 would be used to construct a trail that would connect the developing Coldwater Mountain trail system to struggling downtown Anniston, Alabama.

BUMP Adding Accessible Trail at Oak Mountain

by Mark Muro

BUMP and Shelby County Alabama have again partnered to continue executing the master trail plan at Oak Mountain State Park near Birmingham, Alabama. With this effort, an accessible trail will provide persons with disabilities a scenic, overlook view and a visit to some of the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) history at Oak Mountain State Park. A new viewing platform is being constructed high on Double Oak ridge and one of the abandoned CCC Fire Pit sites is being improved as an accessible, day use, picnic area.

The 9th Annual Snake Creek Gap Time Trial is in the History Books

On March 2, 237 racers went home sporting their badge of courage, the 3x34 belt buckle awarded to those who complete each of the 34-mile events at the Snake Creek Gap Time Trial. Over 500 riders raced at least one of the time trials, held the first Saturday of January, February, and March on the IMBA Epic Pinhoti Trail. January's race had a record 437 participants in the mildest conditions of the three months. Snow and sub-freezing temperatures led to frozen chains, derailleurs, and toes in February.

Support Anniston, AL Sunday Beer Sales Referendum

The City of Anniston has a Bill in the Alabama House of Representatives Rules Committee to allow the Anniston City Council to consider and act upon the authorization of Sunday alcohol sales, on and off premises. If the Alabama legislature passes this bill, the City of Anniston can hold a referendum for Sunday alcohol sales. The City sees Coldwater Mountain as a vital economic engine, and they want you to be able to drink a cold one when you come to ride your bike. The City needs YOUR help to get the bill through the legislature.
