Just prior to lunch break, this past Wednesday, the Georgia House passed a resolution submitted by Ellijay Mountain Bike Association requesting designation for Gilmer County as the "Mountain Biking Capital of Georgia".
Ellijay is home to 100 pristine miles, 400 miles when including surrounding counties which are also maintained by Ellijay Mountain Bike Association. Marco Falgiano, President of EMBA, expressed his appreciation for accepting the resolution and encouraged all in attendance to come ride Ellijay.
|Many members of the Ellijay community submitted letters, including Mike & Terri Palmari of Cartecay Bike Shop who also compiled historical documentation which assisted in a speedy acceptance. Alan May of the Gilmer Chamber of Commerce was also present in support of the resolution acknowledging the great economic opportunities this designation would bring.
EMBA members and trail friends have spent countless hours maintaining these prestigious trails and are proud to offer their services in an effort to promote Ellijay and sister communities.
