Another milestone for Midlands SORBA came on June 16th with notification of official integration into IMBA’s membership system! The chapter came alive in “Famously Hot” Columbia, SC with groups rides at Harbison State Forest every Thursday evening, Manchester State Forest on Sundays, F.A.T.S. on July 2nd, and Harbison on July 4th. Along with the Friends of Harbison State Forest, Midlands SORBA members also participated in work days at Harbison, and on July 9th, our first work day was completed at Manchester State Forest.
We’re excited about our new chapter and the opportunities to build and improve our local trails as well as make our sport safer. Did I mention we have three Mountain Bike Patrol members in our chapter? They have aided riders with minor cuts, a stick stab between the helmet vents, and minor heat exhaustion. Their presence on the trail has also increased awareness of Midlands SORBA. Way to go guys, we appreciate your hard work and committment.
Not familiar with Midlands SORBA? Come check us out on Facebook. Better yet, come ride with us! We’re planning some exciting events. How about a group ride at Dark Mountain / Warrior Creek ((July 16) or a full moon ride at Manchester State Forest on August 13th! If you’re in the Columbia area on the third Monday of each month, come join our chapter meeting at Wet Willies, 800 Gervais St. The manager is a Midlands SORBA member and very user friendly to chapter members. We welcome everyone to “Famously Hot” Columbia and look forward to meeting other chapters on a trail to somewhere. Be safe and ride hard!
