After holding a successful State Championship Downhill Race in 2011, Upstate SORBA elected to donate some of the profit to Paris Mountain State Park to help complete new trail. This donation, combined with funds from the local outfitting store REI, made $8,000 available to hire a professional trail building company to build just over one mile of new trail. Two volunteer work days attracted around 90 volunteers each, with some volunteers traveling from as far away as North Carolina and Georgia.
As of March 1st, the builder has completed his trail work and Upstate SORBA has scheduled one additional work day, March the 24th, to trim the trail out. Mountain bikers and hikers are already enjoying the new trail, which is an asset to a great growing trail system at Paris Mountain State Park in Greenville, SC.
