Bear Creek-Pinhoti Mega Work Party March 9

What better way to spend a day than in the forest, working on and riding your favorite trails? Join the Ellijay Mountain Bike Association (EMBA) as they host a Mega trail work party in the Chattahoochee National Forest on the Bear Creek and Pinhoti 1 & 2 sections of trails in North Georgia, near Ellijay. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m on March 9th, 2013, we'll be doing much-needed maintenance, then we'll treat ourselves to a ride afterward to enjoy the fruits of our labor.

These are some of the most-ridden trails in the forest, and they need YOU! You will join fellow trail users, local residents, EMBA members, Mulberry Gap, CoTrails members, and U.S Forest Service staff to make a difference in your forest. Come for a day or for the weekend - enjoy volunteering and fun times in one of our nation’s greatest treasures, the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest.

These trails need drainage repair, trees cut out, trash picked up, and brush cut back. We will be breaking up into groups and traveling to the areas needing work. No experience or membership is required to volunteer. Please bring a hard hat or helmet (bike or riding), gloves, appropriate footwear, water, and a snack. Dress for working outdoors safely under the prevailing weather conditions. We will work rain or shine. Stinging insects are active at this time of year, so if you have a severe allergic reaction to stings please bring your Epi-Pen or other device. Eat a good breakfast on Saturday before you get to the work party.

Register online to make sure you're counted for lunch on Saturday. Online registration closes on Wednesday, March 6th at 11:59 p.m.. Camping is available at Mulberry Gap at a discount (please contact [email protected] or 706.698.2865 for reservations, mention Mega Work Day) or at Bear Creek Campground
