Huntsville Bike Park

Dear Mountain Bikers,

Our chapter, SORBA Huntsville, has a golden opportunity to repurpose a neglected, 190-acre municipal golf course as a bike park and urban trails system. A vote on this property is coming up rapidly, within 2 weeks.
We have organized a grassroots campaign locally, but please share this petition with your members and local mtb communities. We want to show our City Council that this park and system could be a great draw to others in our region.
If you haven't been to Huntsville in north Alabama, we have some great potential as an MTB destination.
  • Besides easy proximity to other great trail systems in Chattanooga, Birmingham, Anniston and N. Ga., we have 40+ miles of hand-built singletrack, old school trails some call "little Pisgah" because of the technical difficulty.
  • There are two new trail systems in the works
  • Everything is 10-20 minutes from the center of town, where you'll find 9-10 craft breweries, some with excellent restaurants, some kind of free festival or outdoor concert every weekend,  a really nice campground at Monte Sano State Park, and plenty of stuff for your non-riding friends and family to do (U.S. Space & Rocket Centerkiddo stuffshoppingarts, winetasting, lots more).
So you would come here and spend money, right?!
We need a more appropriate training ground for our rapidly growing NICA League. Our proposed bike park would also have multiple pump tracks from beginner through expert with fun features and is on the citywide greenway plan. This makes it accessible to kids living in under-served neighborhoods, too.
Please help us get our bike park by showing your support for a fellow chapter, thank you!
