The Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) is the largest nonprofit mountain biking organization in the Southeast. Our members work with land managers in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee to create trails and trail systems for mountain bikers and other users to enjoy. Through advocacy, education, and recreational opportunities, SORBA carries out its mission to promote land access, trail preservation, and new trail development in order to enhance mountain bike touring, racing, fun, and fellowship for all mountain bicyclists in the southeastern United States.

We have partnered with the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) and now represent over 4,000 members who help steward miles and miles of great trails in a seven-state area. The best riding in the Southeast is found on trails maintained by our volunteers. Our members love singletrack, rocks, roots, and logs, and we employ IMBA's trailbuilding practices to ensure that our trails are sustainable and challenging.

UGA students hold classroom at Woody’s Mountain Bikes

uga student's at Woody'sApril 9, 2015 - HELEN, GA  │  Professor Bynum Boley brought his classroom again this year to visit Woody’s Mountain Bikes in Helen, Georgia.  Boley’s lesson plan is to visit a commercial recreation and tourism business located in North Georgia,  for his students to see real life application of his UGA course concepts.

IMBA-SORBA Welcomes Two Mississippi Chapters

NMTAIMBA-SORBA has granted provisional chapter status to North Mississippi Trail Alliance (NMTA) and Tri County Mountain Bike Association (TCMBA). These are the first two chapters to form in Mississippi. 

Please Comment on Timber Production, Wilderness Designations, and Management Prescriptions in the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests—Deadline extended to February 27, 2015

The USFS has extended the open comment period for proposed timber production and management prescriptions as part of the forest planning process for the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests. Timber production is defined on one of the USFS plan revision documents as “the purposeful growing, tending, harvesting and regeneration of regulated crops of trees to be cut into logs, bolts or other round sections for industrial or consumer use.”
