2024 SORBA Summit

Join SORBA’s volunteers, land managers, advocates, and members in Newnan, GA, for five days full of trail stewardship. Workshops, presentations, panels, networking, socials, bike riding, and lots of fun will be had by all. This year, we will focus on providing mountain bike opportunities in an urban environment.

Sustainable Trail Maintenance and Safety – Trail Crew Leader Training Course

April 17 & 18
9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Instructor: Jeremy Poore, McDowell Tech.

This is a two-day course focusing on trail types, multi-use experiences, basic trail assessment and maintenance, and trail safety and protective equipment. Both classroom and field work are used to solidify concepts and provide practical experience. The training is great for land managers, those entering the trails field, and volunteers who want to expand their knowledge of trail maintenance and sustainability as well as be prepared for the responsibilities of a Trail Crew Leader in their local volunteer organization.

Wilderness First Aid Course

April 17 & 18
9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Instructor, Mateo, MEDIC SOLO Disaster and Wilderness Medical School.

Join our SORBA-tailored 2-day Wilderness First Aid Class (with mountain biking specific hands-on learning scenarios throughout the course) and Hands-on learn how to save lives & limbs and come away with actual do- it-yourself care-giving skill and confidence, and 2-year SOLO WFA certification. Counts as SOLO WFR Recertification. No prerequisites. Spaces are limited; first registered, first served.

Topics include: patient assessment system, traumatic musculoskeletal & spinal injuries, skin injuries, medical emergencies, environmental complications, caregiving for hours to days, evacuation & more.

Volunteer of the Year Banquet

Join us for an evening to celebrate our volunteers from across the region. A catered dinner will be part of the event where we award a volunteer of the year from each of the seven states that represent SORBA. Join us for a night of celebration and recognition of everything that makes our organization great! This event is included in the purchase of your conference ticket. We also have individual tickets for those that wish to join that won’t be at our other activities.
