Headed out to ride this weekend? Don't forget one
Headed out to ride this weekend? Don't forget one of your most powerful tools! Use the @trailforks app to report any trail issue you find, even if it's not your home trail system. It's a simple way for local volunteers to find the issue and log their volunteer hours.

And if you need a little help with how the app works, check out the video where Willie gives an in-depth tutorial on using the program to report trail issues.

This week for our #chapterhighlight we feature @tmba850!

Tallahassee holds an important place in the history of Mountain Biking along with areas like Marin County and Crested Butte. At the same time that those areas were helping found our sport, Ron Jamis was builidng mountain bikes in Tallahassee, Florida. In fact, the records arent the best but we think the first official mountain bike race in the Southeast(maybe) and Florida(for sure) was held in Tallahassee in the early 80's. And they just hosted the first Ebike mountain bike race in Florida two months ago! Tallahassee also hosted many racers in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games as they trained for the Olympics and off an on has hosted many professional US Cycling teams as they train in the winter months on our great roads and hills.

The Tallahassee Mountain Bike Association is proud of our record of advocacy and making their city a great place to live, work and ride. They have succeessfully worked to have nearly $1 million spent on mountain bike infrastructure overt the past 4 years, including the construction of a world-class VeloSolutions pumptrack, 6 miles of new mountain bike trails and over 30 miles of professionally built rehab of our existing trails.

They are very blessed in Tallahassee with over 700 miles of trails and forest roads and nearly 80 miles of singletrack all accesible via a network of paved mutiuse trails that move cyclist safely and efficiently through town. TMBA does have singletrack that starts just blocks from our downtown area. Combine that with our 5 craft brewers and great bike shops, Tallahassee is a great place to visit and ride!

And don't miss their annual Urban Gorilla event held on February 12 in Tallahassee!

***Alabama Members Only!***
We have partnered with Auburn University School of Forestry put out a survey titled “Mountain biking participation and preferences in Alabama” to learn about your participation, setting preferences, and perspectives on mountain biking in Alabama. This understanding will help to better serve mountain bikers, managers of recreation settings, and the communities supporting this important recreation activity.

There are no costs to participate, there is no compensation, and we do not anticipate any risks. There are no direct benefits, however, we expect the results will be generally beneficial to all mountain bikers as managers and local communities will be better informed as to your preferences.
