On a snowy and cold day in Newport, TN, stakeholders in the Hall’s Top Trail project met to go over new trail alternatives with trail project manager Chris Kehmeier from C2 Recreation Consulting. This project was first introduced here on the SORBA website. A trail project that is unprecedented for the southeast, promising 50-100 miles of trail located in the Cherokee National Forest.

During this most recent presentation, 3 options were presented. These options were then reviewed and individuals were able to provide feedback which will be implemented for the next meeting on January 28th. Members from local SORBA chapters AMBC and Five Rivers Mountain Bike Club were present in addition to SORBA staff. Thanks to the dedicated volunteers that attended the meeting to make their opinions heard!

For individuals interested in the project, the Cocke County Partnership is facilitating a community engagement event for the Halls Top Trail Master Plan Friday, January 28th at the Cocke County Partnership from 4-7pm. We strongly recommend anyone interested in the project to attend. If you plan to attend please register here.
