The first portion of our Trail Assessment Training is complete. The virtual sessions were attended by 26 individuals that came from SORBA members, employees of the US Forest Service, and individuals from various other user groups. The two sessions were led by IMBA Trail Solutions. During the training participants were instructed on trail best practices, the effects of water and users, and reasons why certain trails might have issues.
The in person field training for the current class will be held in November in Brevard, NC. During the in person sessions participants will be shown first hand areas of trail that are great examples of where certain efforts will need to be made in order to make the trail much more sustainable.
The course is being funded by a cost share agreement between SORBA and the US Forest Service. Thanks to IMBA Trail Solutions for creating the course materials. Be on the look out for the next opportunity to take this course in the future.
