Hey it's time for a #chapterhighlight! This week we focus on @torc_nc is a key advocate for the establishment of more trails in the Triangle area of North Carolina. They are a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded in August 2005. Prior to that, the Triangle’s mountain bike community was served by individual mountain bike clubs focused on a specific trail network. TORC was formed to unify the smaller clubs into a stronger voice.

Their main trail systems are Lake Crabtree Co. Park, Harris Lake Co. Park, Brumley Forest Nature Preserve, Carolina North Forest, and Briar Chapel. Lake Crabtree County Park singletrack is by far the most popular place for beginner riders in the Triangle. Its central location is also great for relieving weekday stress if you work in RTP. The wooded trails connect to Umstead State Park and Cary's Black Creek Greenway.

This past year TORC completed a number of great trail projects with over 1,000 hours of volunteer service. Project highlights include:
1. Completed Phase 1 of Pickard Mtn (Chapel Hill, NC), 4 miles, 30 hrs, $90,000
2. Completed Phase 3 of UNC Outdoor Education Center (Chapel Hill, NC), 1.5 miles, 180 hrs, $13,000, trail system is now 4 miles in total.

Thank you to all the volunteers at TORQ for all your hard work bringing #MoreTrailsCloseToHome! #SORBA #SORBAstories #TrailAdvocate #Volunteer

This past winter our team has worked hard to prepare for the years ahead, and what SORBA will look like in the future. Over the next couple weeks we will be revealing the details of that strategic plan. We are excited to start this journey with you!

First, is our new mission statement. Keeping it simple; we are mountain bikers supporting all other riders.
