This week for our #ChapterHighlight we focus on the @tarheel_trailblazers in Charlotte, NC!

The Trailblazer crew have had a busy 2023 with starting their inaugural Airline Race League, a grassroots enduro series, that was free to members. The race series was a huge success and helped grow the chapters membership. Fisher Fest was another event that was a great success that featured xc, enduro, whip off, and lots of other fun.

Currently, the chapter is in the middle of developing a bicycle recreation master plan for Mecklenburg County. The Trailblazers are excited to get public input on the plan in the near future.

And just last weekend 13 trail coordinators spent the weekend at Lake Norman State Park learning building and maintenance best practice from a professional.

Thank you to the team of Trailblazers who make it happen! #PoweredByYall #SORBAstories #SORBA

We recently hosted a Trail Assessment Training in partnership with the US Forest Service to give volunteers and Forest Service employees the tools they need to properly assess trails in need of maintenance. With help from @imba_us, we provided training that included a field day based out of @mulberrygapadvbasecamp.

This week for our #ChapterHighlight we head over to Mississippi with Tri County Mountain Bike Association - TCMBA!

Tri County Mountain Bike Association (TCMBA) held its 16th annual Fat Tire Festival/McGee LungBUSTER on October 14th and 15th, 2023. In honor of their 16th consecutive year celebrating mountain biking this year’s theme was “Sweet 16”, wrapped in pink. Participants and spectators from all over the region showed up to join the fun including residents of Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Florida.

The event covers 2 days of racing with an enduro, kids race, XC race, festival, music, and more! The event was once again a resounding success and it was all made possible by their sponsors, the participants, and last but not least the members of the Tri County Mountain Bike Association that contributed countless hours preparing the course and volunteering to cover every aspect of the event from parking to podiums.

TCMBA has been hard at work on the trails rerouting several areas at the Ridgeland Trails that had become drainage issues. At Ridgeland, “If it turns it berms!!” All in all they rebuilt 13 dirt berms, the longest of which (Sally Dog) is more than 130 feet long. At Butts Park in Jackson, they have added mileage. It is currently, over 10 miles of trails. Brandon Quarry they have a new 4-5 mile addition that is built around an old limestone quarry. Starkville continues to develop and work on the J.L. King City Park as well as maintaining more than 25 miles of National Forest Land at the Nox.

December 2 TCMBA will have a time trial race at Roosevelt State Park in Morton, MS. They are hosting a mountain bike time trial to help raise funds to benefit the Mississippi Interscholastic Cycling League. The race will be 2 laps of the 4 mile NICA course they will utilize in the spring. Pre-ride will begin at 11AM while MS NICA is hosting their "Try it Out" event and time trial will start at 1PM until complete.

Thanks to all the crew at TCMBA for being a great chapter of SORBA! #PoweredByYall #SORBAstories #SORBA
